Gilda DiCola Mills picture GILDA DICOLA MILLS (Soprano), a native of Guelph, is a B.Mus. graduate of the University of Toronto and also holds the A.R.C.T. diploma in vocal performance. She studied with Helen Simmie, and sang professionally in Toronto with Opera Atelier, Tafelmusik, Opera in Concert and the Elmer Iseler Singers. Now living in Kingston, she studies with Ewelina Kwasniewska, and is principal soprano of Chalmers United Church Choir. Gilda has sung in every Good Friday concert since 1994 as chorister or soloist. Most recently she performed the solos of Mozart's Vesperae de Dominica and Mass in c Minor (2006), Bach's Cantata 11 (2005), Mass in B Minor (2004), Faure's Requiem (2003) and Mozart's Requiem (2001). With Melos, she was soloist in Mozart's Missa Brevis, K.275 (Music West, December 2004) and the Music at Versailles Christmas concert at St. George's Cathedral in 2002. She sang the title role in Music West's 2001 production of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and is well known as a recitalist of Lieder, opera arias and popular songs. In between singing jobs, Gilda teaches music at Bayside Montessori school, is office manager for her husband and raises two children.
